Julie Anderson Ceramics
Julie Anderson is one of the founders and owners of Warehome Studios. Her nature-inspired ceramic works range from functional mugs, plates, and bowls to large-scale sculptural wall installations.
Julie’s Artist Statement 2023: With a deep connection to the natural world, I know that being outdoors is crucial to my well-being and to my practice as a ceramic artist. Curiosity and a love of biology inform my artistic vision. I utilize my observations of nature to create artwork that feels alive. In my sculptural wall installations, I explore how plants and animals move in the wind and water and how ecological systems are comprised of many reciprocal relationships. Organic curves and negative space mimic the growth patterns and randomness found in nature’s delightful chaos.

Neely Hachtel is originally from Missouri and earned an MFA degree in ceramic sculpture at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She taught after graduation at the college level as a per-course instructor for several years. She has been living in Steamboat Springs for 6 years working as a bus driver, ceramic instructor, artist and landscaper. She was able to get back into making art and teaching by finding Warehome Studios and Julie Anderson the first year she moved to Steamboat.
“My artwork, since moving here, consist of ceramics and needle felted works. I make both functional and sculptural work. My work relates to objects I find interesting in the outdoors. I found Steamboat Springs via the Continental Divide Trail, which I was hiking on. I hiked the Colorado Trail back in 2005 and have always wanted to try living in Colorado. I love hiking and have walked the entire Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and several others.”
